a little bit about me
My first camera was a hand me down Olympus OM-1 from my father. From the first time I heard the click of the shutter, and realized I could freeze time, I was hooked.
Growing up in Southern California provided a plethora of photo opportunities, and while my career took me down the cybersecurity path, photography has served as a creative outlet for almost as long as I can remember.
For a number of years I served as photographer/videographer for an independent news outlet, hanging out the door of a Robinson R-22 helicopter over the streets of Los Angeles. Whether chasing vehicles fleeing from police, or hovering over a building on fire, we were there.
I have served as a photographer for the Commemorative Air Force, the World Police and Fire Games, and currently freelance for the Press Enterprise, Sports Illustrated/SBLive, and CBS Digital Sports/MaxPreps. My MaxPreps galleries can be seen here: MaxPreps - Dan Zimmerman
An avid Nikon shooter, I have been a member of Nikon Professional Services since 1994.
My images have won juried awards in photojournalism, sports, nature and still life and have been featured in:
